Besides training artists in skilled acting, the Court Theatrical Office also placed great emphasis on creating dazzling stage effects. The Belvedere of Pleasant Sounds, located at the Palace of Tranquil Longevity, is a theatre gallery consisting of three floors. From the top to the bottom, they are named “Fortune”, “Wealth”, and “Longevity”. They are connected through an opening in the middle of each floor. The stages are equipped with a flying system that allows the actors to ascend and descend like immortals coming down to earth, and enables the ‘celestial bridge’ in the set to move. The stage has an acoustic function of concentrating the sounds to create a surround sound effect. The water well can be used to create water spray effects to enhance the stunning visual effects of the performances.
